Women’s Health

Menstrual cycles and and reproduction are a natural part of life. When the body is in balance these systems should operate with ease and flow. Unfortunately for many people, things don’t always go so smoothly. Whether it be absent periods, period pain or infertility please consider the use of an ancient and well tried system of medicine.

Holly has trained and completed the ,THE FERTILE LIFE™ PROGRAM

Traditional Chinese Medicine offers physical and emotional support from early pregnancy, through to labour and post birth.  I bring considerable experience from working with women (and their partners) through fertility struggles, together with the privilege of continued care throughout pregnancy and post birth. Acupuncture can be used to assist with a range of pregnancy related conditions. Conditions such as back pain, pelvic pain, insomnia and restless legs are examples of things common in pregnancy, and in acupuncture well worth considering to support your wellbeing and comfort during this special time. While acupuncture is viewed by many as an ‘alternative’ medicine, its use in pregnancy is widespread in Western countries such as Denmark, France, Germany, Switzerland and New Zealand, where midwives undertake specialised acupuncture training.  These techniques are commonly used in birth and I have provided educational training to local midwives who have found acupressure a valuable support for birth. In a consultation with me I can provide guidance on these techniques, should you wish.

Pre-birth Support:

If you’ve had the opportunity to experience Chinese medicine throughout your pregnancy for your monthly wellness treatments then from 34 weeks we start pre birth weekly support. Acupuncture points are used according a woman’s constitution and pregnancy history. This may include points used to assist in ripening the cervix, optimal positioning of the baby ready for labour and to increasing energy and stamina for labour.

*Note it’s never to late to try acupuncture, I’ve certainly supported many women in the very late stages of pregnancy.
